My two hour drive home (which typically takes only 30 minutes) was so stressful that I was begging for it to be over. I finally arrived home safe, only to find that I’m fresh out of wine. Ugh… I’m yet again stuck in the house, watching the snow immerse the ground and cover my car, which will undoubtedly be secured in its street parking spot by not only the falling snow, but the plow trucks that will pass by and force a barrier against my car as if we’re preparing for war. In this moment, there’s only one thing that can make me feel better… SHOES! So here’s my list of the fun shoe-related things you should be doing on a snow day (or any stay-at-home day for that matter).
1. Go Shopping Online
Window shopping, real shopping… any kind of shopping is shopping, especially when it’s shoes. When you’re stuck inside with nothing to do, well that’s just another excuse to catch up on all those shoes just waiting to be seen on your favorite websites. Bergdorf’s. Saks. NastyGal. Shopbop. All my favorite go to shoe salons at the tip of my fingers… literally. So go ahead, indulge!
2. Reorganize Your Closet
So it may not be spring cleaning, but it will feel so good to go through all of those shoes (let’s admit it, if you’re reading this blog, you’ve got tons!). Maybe you’ve forgotten about some, maybe you just need a new system for keeping them organized, or maybe you just need to touch each and every single one of them to remember what they feel like on your feet. Regardless – now is the time to do it. Note to self: when you get to the part where you’ve realized the shoes that are missing from your collection, see #1.
There are so many fun DIY projects that you can do with your shoes – old or new. Use lace, use glitter, use that nail polish that you never put on! There’s nothing wrong with getting a little creative, and you might even find that you’ve made your own new favorite pair of shoes.
4. Make Your Dream List
I know you’ve got a ton of shoes that you just wish you could have. Make the list, and then associate goals to each pair of the shoes that you want. Once you achieve that goal, go buy them! It will be the sweetest reward, and you’ll probably find that you’re getting so much accomplished!
5. Watch Sex And The City
For those of you who think this is not relevant to shoes, you’re dead wrong. Sex And The City always makes me feel better (marathons are the best!), and I’m always shoe inspired every time I watch an episode.
PS. Don’t worry – I sent hubby out to get me some wine!
