Ahhh… the ocean… I long for you. These days when I’m sitting in class, all I dream about it my beach week and a killer pair of sexy beach shoes. Hey everyone. Ok so just wanted to give you an update on my life…

First – You can probably tell that I’ve been making some major changes to the blog. I have switched my server to allow for more customizable features, which will me more exciting things to come in the future. Bare with me for now – there is some content that will be missing from the site until I get through all of the kinks. And of course, your feedback is greatly appreciated so let me know what you think and what you would like me to add.

Second – I just got a new job!! Woohoo… I’ll be working as the Affiliate Partnership Marketing Specialist for Pet360, which includes four website (for now): Pet360, Pet Food Direct, National Pet Pharmacy, and PetMD. Please check them out and show your support.

Actress Monet Mazur is most known for her movie roles in films like Blow, where she acted alongside Johnny Depp, Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me where you can catch her laying alongside Fat Bastard, and you can also catch her as the ex-girlfriend in 40 Days and 40 Nights. Little did you know, this model turned actress is also a singer who has performed with The Pussycat Dolls. Her passion is for film, music, travel and, of course, fashion, including a new project she’s launching called Monet Mazur Design! Many of her roles in films have always been the devious, sexy, stylish type, which seems to be a reflection of her own personal style. Now, she takes on her newest venture with OpenSky. What is your all time favorite shoe trend? Hmm, that’s a hard one. I am quite a fan of bright colored heels. I don’t know if that’s a trend. But I love an all black outfit with a shock of hot pink or fluorescent yellow in a heel to bring an outfit to life.

How has your past and current experience in fashion made you an expert shoe shopper? Don’t buy cheap shoes! Sorry ladies, but they don’t last, and they’re bad for your feet.

Who is an up-and-coming shoe designer that you love? Jerome Rousseau! Jerome Rousseau! Jerome Rousseau! I love him beyond words.

What’s the best advice you can give to shoe lovers on a budget? Invest in a shoe that you can wear all the time. I am a creature of habit so when I find a boot I like (Rag and Bone, Acne) I wear it everyday for weeks!

I DIE FOR A NEW PAIR OF SHOES EVERY DAY, BUT I LIKE TO TRY THEM ON – LORD AND TAYLOR HAS AN AMAZING SHOE DEPT WHERE MOST ARE UNDER $200, SO I FEEL LIKE A KID IN A CANDY STORE THERE!

What is your all time favorite shoe trend?

THE NUDE POINTY TOE SLING BACK WITH EXPOSED TOE CLEAVAGE… NOT ON A PLATFORM BUT ON THE HIGHEST HEEL EVER. IT TRULY IS THE MOST FLATTERING SHOE IN THE WORLD. ANKLE STRAPS MAKE THE CALFS LOOK FAT AND TOO CLUNKY LOOKS CHEAP.

How has your past and current experience in fashion made you an expert shoe shopper?

I STARTED AT VOGUE MAGAZINE IN THE ACCESSORIES DEPT, AND I PRACTICALLY LIVED IN THE SHOE CLOSET FOR THREE YEARS. I WOULD GO TO TRADE SHOWS ALL OVER THE WORLD AND REDESIGN EVERYONES SHOES FOR THE FASHION CLOSET AT ELLE AND MARIE CLAIRE. I EVEN WENT ON A TRIP PAID FOR BY THE ITALIAN TRADE COMMISSION TO LEARN AND WATCH HOW ITALIAN SHOES ARE MADE. WHEN IT COMES TO SHOES, I KNOW A STAR WHEN I SEE ONE!

What do you think the shoe styles will be like in 2020?

IT IS MORE WHAT I HOPE THEY WILL BE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A TREND IN ORTHOPEDIC STILETTOS I ACTUALLY KNOW A GREAT SHOE SURGEON (see video below), AND SHOES THAT CAN GO FROM FLAT TO 5″ WITH A REMOTE CONTROL. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Who is an up-and-coming shoe designer that you love?

I THINK CANFORA IS THE ONE TO WATCH! IT IS A SANDAL COMPANY FROM CAPRI THAT MADE THE SHOES FOR JACKIE O AND THEY ARE LAUNCHING IN THE USA.

What’s the best advice you can give to shoe lovers on a budget?

GO TO TJ MAXX, FILENES, LOEMANS AND RESALE SHOPS BECAUSE YOU WILL BE SHOCKED AT THE MARKDOWNS!

I WILL BE TEACHING WHAT I LEARNED FROM DOING THOUSANDS OF MAKEOVERS. ONCE YOU KNOW THE RULES OF FASHION, GETTING DRESSED AND LOOKING AMAZING TAKES NO TIME. THE TRICK IS TO DELETE ALL THE OBSTACLES THAT BLOCK YOU FROM LOOKING GOOD (IE. SWEATPANTS, CLUNKY CLARKS, BIG PATTERNED PIECES) AND FINDING THE THINGS THAT MAKE YOU LOOK CHIC, THINNER, TALLER AND PULLED TOGETHER.

Today’s inspirational shoe quote from Bette Midler is also the new tag line for Can Ya Heel Me?. “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” I have been inspired by seeing brands that are changing, or more evolving, their collections to include shoes that better suit the lifestyles of their consumers, women who are conquering the world with their inspiration, talent, and skills. These women need shoes for every phase of life, and they want them from their favorite designers, whether that’s Louboutin and Zanotti or Ash and Betsey Johnson. Can Ya Heel Me? is all about the everyday woman who loves shoes and wants to be fierce, but recognizes that woman also lives in the everyday world of grocery shopping, full time work, and of course nights out with the girls. I think this quote really encompasses that woman, and I agree completely that she needs the right shoes for the right times. Can Ya Heel Me? will be all that you need and more for the woman conquering the world.
