Leah Delfiner is no ordinary designer. In fact, at a recent fashion show in which she was featured, I heard her scream out to the crowd “Let’s hear it for bad ass chicks.” For a family affair, this was a bit… PG-13. That is, however, what makes Leah and her clothing line, PrettyPrettyRebel, so unique. It is truly made for the bad ass, tattoo rocking, skin showing fashionista who literally wears her pounding heart on her sleeve. This is hard core fashion. Not for the faint. Not for the dainty. Not for the shy . More for the bold and the beautiful. The girl who just wants her six inch, gold, fluffed and ruffled shoulder-things to stand out from the crowd. The girl who wants to be seen. The girl who wants to be heard! PrettyPrettyRebel is bringing the wow-factor to the runway, and the colorful fashion line will be hard for you to forget.
So how does a girl come up with a name like PrettyPrettyRebel? A combination of a childhood board game and background music! That’s right… the game Pretty Pretty Princess and David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel” inspired the name of this designer’s fashion line.
So what kind of girl is a PrettyPrettyRebel girl? “A girl who loves to break the rules and go against what is ‘normal.’ She’s a rocker rebel girl who loves to have fun and doesn’t take life seriously. She is also the type of girl who can kick your butt, while looking so pretty doing it! She admires color and hates looking like everyone else. She is the type of girl who loves to wear spikes, studs, leather, and mix it with pink, bows, and tutus. But also, PrettyPrettyRebel can be for everyone because every girl has that bad girl side to her!”
Leah says that she was born to design. She even used to come up with new clothing designs for her Barbies. I’m thinking that Barbie should come out with a new character, “Rebel Barbie” that uses Leah’s designs. LEAH – let’s get on that!
What does the future hold for PrettyPrettyRebel? Leah is in the process of getting her clothes in more online shopping stores (currently she’s on Etsy and UsTrendy.com). She hopes to be in some boutiques by the end of 2012. And after that, she will take over the world! Leah hopes to get the attention of celebrities like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Kesha, and also hopes to get featured in magazines like Nylon and Teen Vogue.
And she knows how to pair her clothes up with some amazing shoes. I love this outfit with the tutu and the pink heels! It’s no surprise to me that Leah’s idol is the amazing and incredible designer (shoe designer) Betsey Johnson, but would you believe that Leah was actually an intern for her! What an incredible experience. Leah says Betsey inspired her to start PrettyPrettyRebel.
