Can Ya Heel Me?

Top Ten Shoe Picks of the Week

It’s not difficult to find ten pairs of shoes a week that I like… or want… or would totally wear if I had just the right outfit. There’s millions of shoes out there that I could write about. My goal, however, is to bring you the shoes that you don’t want to miss. The shoes that have the potential to make your whole outfit, which in turn will make your whole night, hell even your whole week if you make headlines (that’s right, you’re all celebrities!) These shoes… these are the shoes that I would just wear – with no clothes on. Seriously. I would just rock ‘em. And now I’m telling you to do the same… Rock them like Julia Roberts rocked Richard Gere’s tie in Pretty Woman! Rock them like the Naked News girls rock the news (haha! – I’m so corny). Rock them like Lady Gaga would rock them.

“For example- she gets out of the bed, puts on the heels, she goes into the bathroom, I hear the water go on, she comes out of the bathroom dripping wet and she still got the heels on.” - Jo Calderone

Versace: I’m sure you’ve all heard of the little black dress… well I think it’s important for every woman to have a “little black shoe” – that go to shoe that you know will be chic, elegant and will make people look at you and say WOW! I don’t think you would normally picture a shoe of this kind to be THE shoe, but give it a chance. This is the kind of shoe that can add class and a little bit of spunk to any outfit. Wear it with skinny jeans, wear it with a red hot tight dress, wear it with a layered outfit like a skirt, leggins and multiple tops – it will make every outfit come alive. The ankle cuff gives it that extra *umph* to change it from plain ‘ol shoe to a heel that’s got amazing potential. My favorite part is the metallic buttons!

Jeffrey Campbell: I don’t know what it is about paint splatter that makes me go crazy. When I was in high school, one of my friends splattered her room with paint – much like this shoe – and I was obsessed with it! Jeffrey Campbell and I have a serious love/hate relationship. I either love the shoes he makes or I hate them. This is an obvious win for both of us! The wedge is so in right now, and using white as the background makes me so happy in winter months. Pair this with a ripped pair of jeans, you favorite old tee, and some serious cover-ups and vests. It will look absolutely amazing.

Acne: At first look, I thought of Cruella DeVille – the stylish version of her from the real-life movie where she’s played by Glenn Close. These would be perfect for her! Aside from the fact that Acne actually calls these the Agni Ponyskin (can someone explain this to me), I think it looks like 101 Dalmations! Either way, they would look great with a leather skirt and a rocker girl attitude! Plus, animal print and lace-ups are so in right now – put them together, and you’re the hottest girl on the scene. You can also try pairing them with some really random, brightly colored outfits for the “nothing matches but I like to wear it anyway” trend.

Nicholas Kirkwood: I’m a die-hard Nicholas Kirkwood fan, so you can probably expect to see a pair of his shoes in almost every one of my top ten posts. Yes, I love him that much. This shoe is actually pretty boring in comparison to all  of the ones I usually love – which is why I’ve picked it for this week. Because it’s practical while still … fabulous. It reminds me of Polo for some reason. The one strap that comes across the front, overlapping the ankle makes the whole thing for me. It adds edge, wit, and class. They’re perfect for the working girl who’s actually a closet shoe freak! (Who me? no!)

Valentino: Obviously, booties are really hot this season. I picked this shoe because I love all of the detail in the rose. It’s stunningly gorgeous – and it has no color, which is even more amazing. Use this shoe to dress up a simple outfit or wear them with jeans to class up your outfit. Either way, your feet will become the center of attention.

Surface to Air: These are totally the new sneakers. Buckles, lace-up, wedge – this shoe has all of the “must have” features of the season, and it allows you to dress down with style. There’s just something about wearing sneakers that makes me feel kind of like a bum. These shoes give you style and comfort while still staying fresh to the season. Not to mention, the colors are amazing!

Fendi: I always like to throw a school-girl style into the mix. This shoe takes the classic Mary Jane style and turns it into a trendy necessity for the season. The fishbone straps add an edge to the shoe, with the two tones giving it the color-block effect. The platform and golden buckle give it the finishing touch for the perfect trendsetter attitude. Perfect to wear anywhere! The closed-toe (which is hard to come by this season) will even let you pair with tights!

Dior: These are just fun – in a Sofia Vergara kind of way! Colorful, edgy, different. Super-model shoes, no doubt! I could wear them with sweat pants and feel so stylish. A friend of mine did that once with wrap-around-the-ankle-wedges and I was so impressed – now I wanna do it. It’s fresh – it feels like a flower. And who doesn’t want a reminder of a flourishing flower when the cold weather is approaching?

Christian Louboutin: There’s nothing like a classy boot to sophisticate your wardrobe. Louboutin shoes are an iconic symbol for the intelligent and rich women of the world. This button-down bootie is the essence of who that woman is – chic, stylish, beautiful, smart. What I love about this shoe, though, is that it can transform from working world to night life in an instant – depending on its pairing. Wear it with wide-leg striped suit pants to work. After, just throw on that adorable green mini dress and you’ll rock the town. I can also see this with leather gloves!

Ash: What would a fall season be without something referencing the cold, snowy weather. I hate the snow – but I love the winter look. These lace-up ski boots are perfect to rock in the cold weather. Pair with a tight pair of jeans and a long winter coat, and you’re on the right track to catch the attention of the fashion paparazzi. My favorite part is the pop of red in the tongue. I love a little color in everything!
